Affirming the start of construction for the Medical Respite Center

Breaking News

APC, in collaboration with LifeLong Medical Care and  Project Champions,  finalized the capital campaign  for the Medical Respite Center! We have so much gratitude to our government and philanthropic partners for their essential funding support and commitment to realize this life-saving campus to address the crisis of unhoused individuals living with chronic and advanced illnesses on our streets.

Construction  for the Medical Respite Center began 10/30/23 starting with the abatement and demolition of the existing building.

APC attained the no-fee conveyance  from the federal government for the parcel to construct the Medical Respite Center. This is the third land conveyance to APC for the purpose of serving homeless individuals, a major, rare accomplishment nationally since the accommodation law was passed in the 80’s. According to APC Executive Director Doug Biggs “the process we went through to get the property was challenging, but knowing the impact this project will have on the lives of those served, we never wavered from our commitment.”

The Naming Process Has Begun !

Supporters see this pioneering wellness campus as a national model for unhoused adults living with complex health conditions.
